Elephant with damaged soles at Haathi Gaon, Jaipur

End Elephant Rides

Sigh the petition

Elephants at Amer Fort (also known as Amber Fort) in Rajasthan, India, are often controlled with bull hooks which cause wounds and scarring

Stop Elephant Exploitation at Amer Fort

Every day, the elephants of Amer Fort go through immense pain and suffering. Snatched from their mothers as babies, they are controlled with cruel bullhooks and forced to carry heavy loads of tourists for hours. These intelligent, gentle beings, who deserve love and freedom, are instead treated as mere objects of entertainment.

The Harsh Reality of Elephant Rides

  • At Amer Fort, elephants are:
Ripped from their mothers as babies and subjected to brutal training known as "the crush," breaking their spirits.
  • Forced to carry heavy seats and tourists for hours, leading to painful muscle strain and permanent injuries.
  • Controlled with sharp bullhooks, which leave wounds, scars, and lasting trauma.
  • Chained for long hours when not working, causing severe foot problems and mental distress. These elephants suffer every single day—all for the fleeting amusement of tourists.

A Call for Immediate Action

The Government of Rajasthan has previously proposed building an Elephant Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre—a much-needed step toward ending this cruelty. However, no progress has been made since the proposal, leaving these elephants trapped in misery. We urge the Government of Rajasthan to prioritize and fast-track the establishment of this rescue center. The elephants of Amer Fort cannot wait any longer.

Elephants Deserve Freedom, Not Exploitation

These magnificent creatures belong in the wild, not in chains, not in pain, and not for our entertainment.
